Location. Colonial Lodge is located on Lake Taupo in the business and entertainment district of Taupo, New Zealand. The hotel is 300 meters from Taharepa Reserve, one kilometer from the city center and five kilometers from the airport and Taupo Tandem Sky Dive.
Hotel Features. A small white brick colonial-style hotel, Colonial Lodge is surrounded by a brick patio and terrace. Hotel amenities include complimentary wireless Internet access in public areas, guest laundry facilities and ski and bicycle storage. Continental or cooked breakfasts will be delivered to guestrooms on request for a fee. The hotel also provides complimentary secure parking. Smoking is allowed in designated areas only. Pets are not permitted in the hotel.

Guestrooms. The 12-room, two-story hotel (no elevator) contains studios and family suites that include kitchens equipped with stove tops, coffee and tea makers, refrigerators, microwave ovens, cookware, dishes and utensils. Rooms also include complimentary wireless Internet access, high-definition LCD televisions with satellite channels and DVD players. All rooms include ceiling fans, and bathrooms offer two-person jetted bathtubs and separate showers. Some rooms have partial lake views.

Expert Tip. Lake Taupo and its surrounding rivers provide excellent trout fishing. Other outdoor activities are plentiful and include sky diving, bungee jumping, mountain biking, snowboarding and skiing, horseback riding and rock climbing. Area water sports include water skiing, jet boating and kayaking. Also, the area offers several geothermal parks. A ski bus stops two kilometers from the hotel.
