ABOUT Royal Gaitor Tumbas
Located in the walled city area named Brahmpuri, 15 km from Jaipur at the foothills of Nahargarh Fort,  Royal Gaitor Tumbas is the cremation ground of the Royal Maharajas of Rajasthan. Gaitore means the resting place of departed souls. You may want to visit this place if you are interested in the study of Cenotaphs dedicated to various rulers. These cenotaphs are a perfect collaboration of Islamic and Hindu temple architecture, among which the cenotaph of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II is considered the most impressive one as it is made of white marble with intricate carvings on it.

It is interesting to note that the carvings on each chhatri is a reflection of the taste of respective Maharajas. It is said that the views of Jaipur from this place are unparalleled. You can also catch glimpses of the Maan Sarovar lake and the Jal Mahal Monument when here.
