Vellore, a popular city in Tamil Nadu is a quaint place, otherwise well known for the Vellore Institute of Technology and the renowned Christian Medical College & Hospital. The city has a rich history and has witnessed the Revolt of 1806, a sepoy mutiny which was later echoed in 1857 on a much larger scale. Vellore has many historic and religious attractions. Just two of the most famous ones are Vellore Fort and the Jalakandeswarar Temple. Tipu Sultan's family was imprisoned in the former during British rule.
