This pristine and scenic lake is one of the most popular destinations for tourists in Gangtok. It has an average depth of 50 ft and remains frozen during the winter months. The lake worshipped as a holy lake by Sikkimese has a moderate-sized temple of Lord Shiva on the lake shore. Many flowering plants like Primula and other flora like Alpine trees add beauty to the lake. You can also experience Yak ride for approx INR 650 per person around the lake. Since it is a part of the restricted area, prior permission from the tourism department is mandatory. Foreign nationals are not permitted to visit this lake without special permission.
