Cultural Diversity

Sri Lanka is a thriving cultural hub where Hinduism and Buddhism are the main religions but there is also a sizeable population of Christians and Muslims. Mosques and churches paint the colourful landscape of the country, along with many heritage sites. A few of the places and pilgrimage sites popular in the country are Golden Temple of Dambulla, Adam's Peak, Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Seetha Amman Temple and the Colombo Grand Mosque.

Since Sri Lanka is home to many religious denominations and ethnicities, its no wonder that the country's cultural calendar is full the whole year round. The year begins with Duruthu Pereher--a celebration of Buddha's first visit to the country. Another major festival is Deepawali, which marks the victory of good over evil. Festivals like Navam Full Moon Poya and Vesak are celebrated with great fervour. No matter what time of the year you plan to visit the island country of Sri Lanka, you are bound to see some festivity or other going on, all thanks to the country's rich heritage.

Tea Plantations and Resorts

Sri Lanka is home to Nuwara Eliya, which is home to the world-renowned Ceylon tea. Most of the tea plantations are located on the central-lower region of the island country.
