an artist hotel in central Beijing

by cafephilo on 09 Nov 2016 (Couple Traveller)

An unusual hotel in a sense that it serves dual purposes of being a lodging place and an art museum. Established about twenty years ago by Mr Li, an entrepreneur and artist in his own right, the original building was a disused clothes factory. Mr Li is a stone carving artist who saw the opportunity of converting a factory into an art museum at the same time making it pay for itself by providing lodgings to tourists. The museum in the hotel displays Mr Li's own stone art and his collection of ...

Not for foreigners

by dmitryegorov2005 on 17 Aug 2016 (Business Traveller)

Hotel is close to embassies area but very difficult to catch a taxi. first, 'too close' for taxi but still far to walk (especially in winter). Hotel is not on main road so to get taxi is difficult. most important staff do not speak English hence for foreigners it will be a difficult place to stay or get around. Breakfast is only limited choice of chinese food (not too bad, but really very simple). No facilities to print / copy / meet. Rooms however are brand new and nice. Rooms are good. If you ...

Boutique Hotel in good location

by Cynthia L on 23 Aug 2015

Location is great, walking distance to shopping centres, underground train and surrounded by multiple massage joints. The hotel room condition is fairly good, clean, modern and simple. Bathroom is modern with rain shower. Not much luxury however, good for a business stay as it is convenient.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location was great for my purposes (in the embassy district), and the hotel staff were extremely helpful. My room was one of the renovated rooms (for westerners). Heaps of space and great amenities. The only two downsides, currently, are that the meals are clearly catered for a largely domestic clientele. There's a few western items on the menu, though rather poorly executed. I was a little surprised at this, because this hotel is in the embassy district and ...

Clean hotel and Convenient location next to Embassies area

by dmitryegorov2005 on 17 Mar 2015 (Business Traveller)

Advantage of this hotel is close location walking distance to many foreign embassies in Beijing. Rooms look brand new and very clean. Disadvantages are very poor internet connection (it says wi-fi connection but actual connection is next to none - not able any internet page even showing good signal), no in-room service (no restaurant in this small hotel) and unfortunately breakfast is not good. Advised to go out for any food. Not far from hotel you may find some places to have the f...
