Based in Downtown Houston, Continental Airlines is the fourth-largest airline in the US, based on revenue passenger miles. It started operating on July 15, 1934 as Varney Speed Lines (named after one of its initial owners, Walter T. Varney) and was renamed as Continental Air Lines on July 8, 1937.
