Frost flowers are simply ice crystals which grow on young sea ice in calm and cold conditions. The ice formations are such that they appear like tiny flowers or clusters of them. Snow donuts or snow rollers are large snowballs which are formed naturally when chunks of snow are blown along the ground by wind. They pick up layers of snow on the way, leading to a donut like structure. They are cylindrical in shape and often hollow in the centre. Many a times they grow to even two feet in diameter. Flowering Desert

This climatic phenomenon is one that occurs in the Atacama Desert in the Republic of Chile. Here a wide variety of flowers are said to blossom during the months of September and November in particular years that receives unusually heavy rainfall. This heavy rain leads to the germination of latent flower seeds giving it a mesmerizing flower-bed look in the otherwise barren desert. It also leads to a large number of insects, birds and some species of lizards migrating to this area.
