Haven of Calm

by aasthawadhwa on 23 Apr 2018 (Solo Traveller)

Anand on the Sutlej is laid out in a very orderly fashion - almost like a military camp in the jungle! But the cottages are rather tasteful and take you to the sparse design world. One can wish that the river was more present but it flows quietly behind the wall. The vast green gardens are very refreshing. Aman Nath

The Unique Beauty and Color of a Lifetime!

by JaneMount on 12 Apr 2018 (Couple Traveller)

[email protected] Satluj was a welcome retreat from busy and well-populated India. We arrived at this sanctuary made of lovely stone cottages placed around a spectacular array of trees and lots of green grass. Much of travel in India feels a little frantic - you worry about getting ill from the food, you don't speak the language, you've never seen a crowd like this and you are never quite sure where to go. All this ends when you reach the resort; it's calm and peaceful. The meals are based in Indian c...

Charming Rural Hideaway

by RRae1 on 20 Mar 2018 (Friends Traveller)

[email protected] was the charming farmstay l returned to after the colorful drama of the Holla Mohalla Festival. I recommend this lovely place at any time. The cottages are like the traditional style of old Punjabi/Pahari houses, built using natural river stones for the walls and walkways, with slate roofs, all locally sourced. The interiors were done by Sumathy, an Interior Designer who together with her husband Vikram are the owners. The rooms are comfortable, chic and well equipped. Local h...

A lovely oasis in the countryside.

by Doowah54 on 15 Mar 2018 (Couple Traveller)

We stayed here 2 nights on our way from Pragpur to Shimla. There are several lovely temples in the area as well as a magnificent museum in Anandpur Sahib. The accommodation complex was new and well maintained and out on its own in the countryside. Our room was lovely. The staff were very helpful and helped us navigate the local countryside by both tractor and foot. We had breakfast lunch and dinner at the hotel and the food was amazing and tasty. We also were entertained by the owner who was ver...

Lovely stay during Holla Mohalla

by abbie353 on 10 Mar 2018 (Friends Traveller)

The Anand at The Satluj is a delightful place to stay. Set up as an eco lodge / farm stay the cottages are really nicely appointed. The food is delicious with Indian home cooking served at every meal. This is the ideal place to stay during Holla Maholla. Right on the festival doorstep, the farm stay is an oasis of peace and tranquility to balance those trips into the festival. I highly recommend Anand @ The Satluj and if you are lucky enough to be there when the owners Vikram and Sumathy are t...
