about art of living international center

The Art of Living (AOL) courses offered at the Art of Living International Center in Bangalore, as developed by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, includes breathing processes, meditation and some simple dialogue. The cornerstone of the AOL courses is the breathing technique — Sudarshan Kriya — that has been developed by Sri Sri. By now it’s a well-known stress management and health promotion techniques. According to the ashram, studies on the effects of Sudarshan Kriya on the body have been undertaken in collaboration with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences and Bengaluru University. A study in collaboration with AIIMS concluded that there was “increase in Beta activity in subjects regularly practising Sudarshan Kriya”, which can be linked to an increased level of concentration and vigilance. Two studies conducted in collaboration with the Bengaluru University concluded that the Sudarshan Kriya had a positive effect on the lipid profile and oxidative stress.

The costs vary from course to course. Accommodation in the ashram is spaciously distributed along the complex, each kutir has a private garden and is surrounded by vegetation and greenery. But don’t let the old world charm fool you; the kutirs are equipped with all modern amenities to ensure comfort and convenience. The ashram has a capacity to accommodate up to 2,500 people. Accommodation is reserved for those participating in programmes taking place in the ashram. The contemplative environment of the ashram doesn’t exclude material comforts. You will find all the facilities here: a full-fledged travel desk undertakes all the travel needs of the visitor including domestic and international airline bookings and train bookings, arranging taxis and other transport services. A cyber café with multiple terminals, a public telephone booth, a post office nearby, a money exchange bureau, an ATM, locker facilities, laundry service, an Ayurveda pharmacy and an emergency clinic are other services on offer. There’s even a shop that provides all the items that you might want during your stay at the ashram, right from soaps and toothbrush to batteries for your camera, and dhotis and angavastra to sleepers and bags.
