The Snowman Trek, Bhutan

The most difficult trail in Bhutan, the Snowman Trek takes around 25 days and is clearly not for the weak of heart. Trek through some of the remotest valleys, hardest high altitudes and most spectacular landscapes to enter into the world of enchanting kingdoms and vibrant Buddhist culture. The official trek starts in Paro and culminates at Sephu. Be prepared to camp at altitudes as high as 5,000 m!

Everest Base Camp Trek, Nepal

The trek on the south side of the Everest Base Camp is one of the most popular trekking routes in the Himalayas. The three-week long trek takes you from Dudh Kosi River to Dingboche before reaching the base camp at Gorakshep. Lo and behold! The mighty Kala Patthar stands tall at 5,545 m with Mt. Pimori in the backdrop.

Baltoro Glacier and K2, Pakistan

The second highest peak in the world, the trek to K2 is demanding to say the least. The rugged and icy trek starts at Askole village and presents dramatic vistas en route--from the Braldu Gorge to the colossal glacier of Baltoro. Once you reach Concordia, the trek will take you through the majestic peaks of Paiju (6,610 m), Uli Biaho, Great Trango Towers and finally K2. A truly humbling experience, this trail will leave you asking for more!

Chadar Frozen River Trek, Ladakh

Also known as the Zanskar Trek, the Chadar Frozen River Trek has now found international fame, thanks to many documentaries and films! During the cold season, when the river freezes into a thick sheet of ice, the temperatures dip drastically (upto - 25 ℃). The trail starts at Chilling and goes till Lingshed. From here, you will get to walk on Chadar! The Sun rarely reaches the river, but when it does, the whole river turns into a kaleidoscope of glittering colours. Photography lovers should plan a trip around full moon for the most stunning photo-ops!

Chembra Peak Trek, Kerala

Situated in Wayanad, this is one of the most beautiful nature trails you will find in the country! Make sure you take permission from the forest office in Meppady in order to take the trek to Chembra Peak. Halfway up to the peak, you will come across a heart-shaped lake from where the trail passes through thick forests. The 3-hour trek takes you through some of the most picturesque locales of Kerala. Upon reaching the top, you can see the whole of Wayanad with parts of Kozhikode and Nilgiri.

Araku Valley Trek, Andhra Pradesh

Being one of the least populated destinations comes with its own perks! The quaint and picturesque Araku Valley is famous for its coffee plantations. Bathed in myriad shades of greens and yellow, the valley offers a beautiful trek starting at Sivalingapuram. The terrain tends to get steep at places, but is otherwise a smooth trek. Visit the Borra Caves for the sheer majesty of the stalactite and stalagmite formations!

Sandakphu Trek, West Bengal

Put your trekking skills to test with a nature trail in Sandakphu--the highest peak of the Himalayas in West Bengal. Experience the countryside by beginning your trek from Manebhanjang. Along the way, you will get to witness the grand vistas of the eastern Himalayas and the Kanchenjunga Range. Seasonal wildflowers dot the landscape and the trek takes two days to complete!

Rajmachi Trek, Maharashtra

Perched near the twin hills of Lonavala and Khandala, Rajmachi is a popular destination for trekking and nature trails. The stunning fortification has two forts and the total elevation of the Rajmachi Trek is just 826 m. What it lacks in height, it covers in length--with a whopping 18 km one-way trek! You can start the trek either from Karjat or from Lonavala. The landscape comes alive during monsoon, when you cross paths with hundreds of crabs. At dusk or early morning, fireflies guide your way! And as you sleep under a village hut, the raindrops play a metronomic melody.

Great Lakes Trek, Jammu and Kashmir

A trek through one of the most enchanted lands in the country, the Great Lakes Trail takes you on a magical journey! One of the most stunning treks in India, it covers the seven glacial lakes in Jammu and Kashmir. The landscape is carpeted with lush meadows, gurgling brooks and maple trees. The trek starts at Sonmarg and goes up via Shekdur, Gadsar Lake before reaching Satsar. Pitch your tent at Gangabal, at the base of Mt. Harmukh. The highest elevation reaches upto 4,191 m and the trek takes seven days to complete.

Nakki Lake Trek, Mount Abu

A very popular tourist destination, Mount Abu offers a total of 17 nature trails! Replete with lush forests, waterfalls, lakes, sunrise and sunset points, the hill station offers many beautiful opportunities for photographers and nature lovers. Boating in Nakki Lake is a hot favourite with tourists. Climb up a short trail to Toad Rock for a panoramic view of the lake and the surrounding area! The river trails is roughly 6 km long and can be covered easily!
