about bellandur lake

Bellandur Lake in Bangalore is said to be polluted to a large extent and is said to be under-developed for the very same reason. It is the largest lake in Bangalore and receives water from three sources upstream--which branch into three lakes before flowing into Bellandur, which further disintegrates into the Varthur Lake and eventually into the Pinakini River Basin. It is currently highly polluted with chemicals and sewage, with ammonia and phosphate in extremely high quantity. In May 2015 the foam above the lake caught fire and burned for entire night which as a result destroyed the wetlands. The foul smelling foam has lot of toxic effects which ranges from skin rashes to eye irritation, headache and dizziness. It gets really difficult to commute nearby during rainy and windy days as the foam floats nearby which impairs visibility.

In the mid of the city among the sky scrappers and heavy traffic its a perfect spot for sunset and an evening walk.
