Kuala Lumpur is a landlocked places but you do have the option to go to nearby beaches if you have about 4 hours to spare for the drive. Here are a few options:

1. Port Dickson

Situated at about 100 km from KL, Port Dickson is one of the must visit places near Kuala Lumpur and a local favourite. Your best option to get here is to opt for the 1.5 hour long drive by cab/car.

2. Pangkor Island

Breathtakingly beautiful, Pangkor is situated at about 250 km from Kuala Lumpur. You will have to take a bus or taxi to Lumut, from where the island can be reached by Ferry.

3. Penang

A little more further away from the capital of Malaysia, Penang is well worth the effort it takes to get there. 331 km and a 3 and a half hour ride later, you will find yourself at this fine place with sweeping views and great energy. It is a good idea to take a train to Pengang, it promises some great views.

4. Langkawi

462 km from KL lie the glittering islands of Langkawi. Blue seas falling in love with the blue skies and bright green palm fronds spell Langkawi Islands best. Add to this the beautifully coloured surf sails and silvery white coral islands and you have the perfect recipe for an amazing holiday. You can fly to Langkawi from KL or take a ferry from Pengang.

5. Port Klang

Perhaps not the best beach around, but Port Klang is for sure the nearest beach to Kuala Lumpur. Located at just a short car ride of 40 minutes, the beach is a local haunt.

Hope this helps!
