The Botanic Park is a 5-minute trip from Lambton Quay via the cable car. You can also walk to the top by taking the lifts at The James Cook Arcade. Upon reaching The Terrace, go uphill to the south till Salamanca Road. From here, a set of stairs takes you to the opposite side on the Hunter Lawns. Go uphill and you will reach the Garden.

The perfect place for enjoying a picnic, the Botanic Garden are also dubbed as the green jewel of Wellington. Spread over 25 hectares between Thorndon and Kelburn, the gardens rest atop a hill and offer breathtaking, panoramic views of the city. The winding, hilly pathways are used for walking and jogging by the locals. There is a children's playground in the garden as well. There is a gift shop and a cafe where you can sit back after your tour and enjoy your favourite blends! Don't miss the Cable Car Museum at the top of the Botanic Garden. It has a display of original Cable Car machinery, old cars and restored cars.
