Day 1-Srinagar : Local Sightseeing

Before you start with the day, I highly recommend you to stay at a Houseboat in Srinagar as this is the perfect way to explore the beautiful and heavenly surroundings of Srinagar. And moreover, staying at a houseboat would definitely be an experience of a lifetime. Since it gets dark really early in Srinagar, try and wrap around your sightseeing spree before its dark. So start your day early and visit the Mughal Gardens which also include Chashm-E-Shahi, Shalimar Bagh and the Nishat Bagh.

Start with Nishat Bagh going ahead with Shalimar Bagh and then Chashm-e-Shahi. If you happen to be here in the month of April you can visit the Indira Gandhi memorial Tulip Garden, that remains open only for a few days during this time, before going to Chashm-e-Shahi. Located close to the Chashm-e-Shahi garden is the famous Pari Mahal, you can spend few beautiful moments here after the ‘Srinagar garden visiting spree’.

I am sure after all this you would want to grab some food as you must have been exhausted because of your walking spree through these beautiful and manicured gardens. I would recommend Shamyana Restaurant at Boulevard Road for a lavish and sumptuous Kashmiri Cuisine gourmet experience.

In the evening go for some shopping at the Polo View Market and Lal Chowk which are one of the popular shopping spots here. But, make sure you are there before it gets dark as the markets close at 7-7:30 PM in the night. And after this long tiring and fun filled day, go and rest at your luxurious houseboat.

Day 2- Srinagar: Shikara Ride & Religious Places

Since you would be staying at the houseboat, go and visit the Floating Vegetable Market at Dal Lake which is India’s own answer to Bangkok’s Floating Market. Reach here as early by 6 AM as this market is only for an hour or so. After breakfast head for Shankaracharya Temple and Jami Masjid.

By late evening, visit any of the restaurants in Srinagar and have an early dinner and call it a night since the other day would include travelling to another leg of the trip.
