about chawla's2

This is the place to visit when you are desperate for your Punjabi food fix. It has a slightly rustic decor with cane, wooden furniture and the painting of a girl doing phulkari embroidery goes well with its theme. Chawla's signature speciality is the Ludhiana-style Cream Chicken (the minty cream sauce is supposed to be a secret recipe and the mix comes all the way from Ludhiana) and they also make paneer in the same sauce. You could also try the subtly flavoured egg-coated Reshmi Kebab and Afghani Chicken, both are excellent Tandoori starters; the Seekh Kebab, Tandoori Mutton Chops, Fish Tikka, Paneer Tikka, Malai Kebab and Hariyali Kebab are quite good. Avoid the platter though, as not all their kebabs are good and stick to a selection. Their Mutton Keema, Mutton Keema Kofta, Chicken Rahra and Palak Paneer are pretty good, while the Handi Biryani is not bad. Finish with the rich, cold and thick Kheer. If you would like to try a raan - be it Tandoori or with a Punjabi gravy - give Chawla's enough notice and they will do so happily.
