A good stopover on your way to Naddi.

While the lake in itself might disappoint you because of the lack of maintenance, the ambience at Dal Lake would pretty much make up for it. It's rightly famous as a picnic spot for the locals, as you'll find a good air of bonhomie prevailing this place every evening. It's a perfect stopover if you are trekking up to Naddi, which is well famous as a sunset point. A good number of tea shops and more are ideal to pick up some goodies on your way up to Naddi.

Not a breath-taking place

Well, during my graduation final semester exams in May 2013, we decided to trip to McLeod Gunj. Dal lake was not really a breath-taking spot. Just fine, if you have never seen something better. Not a really cool experience.

Take the little trail by the side of Dal Lake to reach Naddi, one of the most loved and famous sunset points in the region.

Monsoons are the best time to visit this lake for it often runs dry and or stagnant otherwise.

It's not the same place as famous Dal Lake in Kashmir, though it may be equally cold if you're planning to visit during winter. Take all proper warm clothing with you.
