about devaraja market

Devaraja Market is a place for those who want to indulge in the local flavours of the city. This market is dated from Tipu Sultan’s reign and is probably the oldest market of the city. The best way to walk through the full length of the market is to enter from one of the two main entrances at either ends. You will find yourself overwhelmed as this market has quite a lot to offer. There are various shops selling traditional household tools, incense, local flowers, vegetables, fruits, kumkum (vermilion), betel vine, banana leaves, seeds and even some souvenir stalls. As far as perishables like flowers, fruits and vegetables are concerned, this place doesn't have any cold storage so everything that you'll get here is absolutely fresh, straight from the farm to the market. Do remember to bargain for great deals and a satisfactory shopping experience.
