Holi, the symbol of love, colors, fun and joy, is one of the most awaited festivals of the country. Though it is great fun to celebrate Holi but we should always be a little cautious while playing it. There are some Do’s and Don’ts in Holi that must be kept in mind and followed to add to the essence of this festival.


Use only natural home made colours.
Make sure to oil your hair and lotion on your body before leaving out to play Holi.
Apply thick coating of nail paint both in fingers and toes to keep them protected.
Wear clothes that you can discard easily as you won’t be able to wear them again.
Take out precious accessories as they might get damaged because of the colour.
Sunglasses can protect your eyes from harmful colours.
Use dental caps to save your teeth from staining.
Cover your head with a cap and tie your hair in a braid.
If travelling, keep the window panes closed at all times
Use lukewarm water to remove colour from your body
Keep anti-allergy tablets handy


Don’t use eggs, tar and mud while playing Holi.
Avoid over consumption of hard drinks and bhang.
Don’t forcefully put colour on someone. You might end up hurting them.
Don’t run on the wet floor it might be slippery.
Water is a precious natural resource. Don’t waste it in playing Holi.
Don’t go out on the day of Holi alone.
