Myself and my sister were up for lunch this afternoon and there menu has changed. What a massive difference to the menu. The food was great, i had fish cake and rice pudding fabby presentation. The staff were outstanding two young ladies were amazing at their job just made us feel so welcoming and magnificent. The young lady with the long brown hair was a real help towards our visit. The other girl with the blondish hair was helpful as well, helping us to take photos etc. Amazing!!! Highly recom...

Great staff and good food

by Dave_Connelly on 08 Jan 2017 (Family Traveller)

Thought we would try the place for a bite to eat. It was easy to find and set within a public park/golf course and wooded area where we saw three dear feeding. The building in its day must have been magnificent but time and lack of maintainance has clearly taken its toll. Certainly unimpressed with the undefined entrance which was not obvious from where we stood in the shared car park. The place from the outset looked damp, cold and unwelcoming. Some major work on damp proofing, some cleaning up...

Christmas meal 2016

by MaggieAggie11 on 26 Dec 2016 (Family Traveller)

This has to be the worst Christmas dinner ever. The meal was a total disaster. The starter of cured duck ham was totally inedible, the turkey was dry and the roast beef was over cooked. The Christmas pudding was presented as a tray bake with a minimum portion served. All in all the whole meal was of a very poor standard. There was not enough staff on to serve and waitingtimes between courses was far too long. Staff were observed pouring the unused "on arrival" drinks back into bottles and ...

Authenticity at its best!!

by Tinny10 on 23 Oct 2016 (Family Traveller)

After a long and arduous drive from Manchester to Kirkcaldy (6 hours of gruelling A roads!) we were met by a very polite team of staff who were kind enough to give us a chance to get a drink from the bar even though it was nearly midnight!, straight away we were grateful and felt at home, especially when we were sat in front of the stunningly grand open fire, once we were on the comfy sofas in front of the fire with a drink in our hand we were ready for bed. As we sat down to relax we looked aro...

Two night stay whilst my wife was in hospital.

by Sean D on 17 Oct 2016 (Solo Traveller)

I would firstly just like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at the hotel for being so kind to me during my recent stay. The hotel itself was immaculate. My room was on the second floor and was huge. Dinner menu was varied and the food was great. Breakfast also great. Lots of choice and rather large portions. Setting of the hotel is lovely and there are plenty of lovely walks close by. I stayed here as my wife was admitted to hospital as an emergency. Staff always asked how she was...
