There are many festival of lights around the world and each is celebrated in a unique way. These beautiful festivals bring with them happiness, colours and vibrancy no matter which part of the world they are celebrated in!

Vivid Sydney

This is annual outdoor cultural festival held in May-June. Beautiful light installations and projections make Sydney come alive and look even more spectacular. The Sydney Harbour and Opera House are especially not to be missed during this magnificent festival. Musical performances by local and international artists add to the festive spirit.

Fête des Lumières, Lyons


This beautiful festival of lights,in Lyons, France, celebrates the city’s heritage and takes place over 4 days In early December. Tourists come from all over the world to see the buildings, river banks and parks beautifully decorated and lit up in different coloured lights. It is also madatory for the residents of Lyons to light candles on their window sills during this festival.

Diwali, India

The Indian festival of lights is celebrated to symbolize the homecoming of Lord Rama after a 14 year long exile. Lakshmi Puja is an an important aspect of Diwali celebrations in India. People pray for the prosperity of the household during this puja. Diwali is celebrated by lighting diyas, making rangolis, exchanging sweets and, of course, bursting lots of fireworks.
