Quiet and Clean

by grossetti on 15 Jan 2017 (Family Traveller)

I stayed with my family, it was nice as we got communicating rooms. The hotel was quiet and clean, it has a simple style, a bit dark for me but not bad. Nothing bad to say about the rooms and service. It is nicely located, not far from the main attractions and has a private parking (must reserve in advance) which is really great. The people were nice and always happy to help. We were disappointed with the breakfast though. Several posts said it was wonderful, had lots of choice, etc. Maybe our ...

Visited for media coverage of Euro 2016

Charming small hotel in back streets but 5-10 minutes walk to river and some central shopping streets. Efficient staff, accommodating at the bar quite late. Breakfast a limited affair but nice enough. Thoughtful little gifts in room for the tournament. Very helpful English-speakers at reception who helped us with a few tasks. Comfortable, basic rooms with all you needed.

How is this rated as a 4* hotel?

We booked 2 rooms of the same standard. One had equipment that the other didn't. When queried, the response was that some rooms have them and some don't ?????? We had problems with the lighting, the wi-if, the air conditioning and the bathroom. Some items were fixed , some weren't. 'Hotels sometimes get these problems - we can't help it and we can't fix them at the moment' was the response from one of the managers. Similar to other quotes that I've seen recorded here. The rooms, furnishings et...

It's all about the location

by gailgoldenjewelry on 22 Sep 2016 (Couple Traveller)

Le Roosevelt is centrally located, close to the Rhone river and Vieux Lyon. There are many good restaurants within walking distance. The barge brasseries on the Rhone river were a favorite with us, and we could also walk to the Fine Arts Museum, the Roman ruins, and the streets and restaurants of Vieux Lyon. The hotel itself, however, we found to be just ok. It was a little musty and the room was a tiny bit shabby. The A/C didn't work very well and we ended up opening the window for a little fre...

OK in an old-fashioned sort of way

by rsitman on 22 Aug 2016 (Couple Traveller)

Perfectly adequate, located not too far from the historic centre of the city. The room was clean and quite comfortable, as was the bathroom. The dark curtains and furnishings were a bit heavy and had an old-fashioned air about them. Breakfast was quite expensive, so we opted for one of the cafés in the vicinity. The staff, however, are extremely pleasant and helpful.
