Third year running - a great stay

by Trevor F on 27 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

This ws our third year running at Halcyon Cove and we enjoyed our three weeks there very much again. The gardens had been improved and tidied, some paint had been applied, many of the friendly faces from previous years were there to welcome us. Food was very good as usual and the dining locations were varied this year which was pleasant. A new feature was watersports. Rooms still basic and housekeeping and maintenance need to up their game. Saw signs of new investment in rooms and heard about ex...

Relaxing stay

by MBRWales on 27 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

We have just spent a week here and loved the beautiful beach. The food and drinks were good and all staff friendly. It felt safe. We walked about 1.5km along the beach most days and did not find the beach vendors a nuisance. Entertainment was average but was adequate as so many people staying there went back to their rooms early. The bars closed at 11pm. Our accommodation overlooked the beach. It was sufficient for us. Some of the rooms have been upgraded. We ate on Warri pier one evening which...

A Relaxing week in Paradise

by vsisler on 24 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

We stayed at Halcyon Cove Jan 14-21/17 and had a great time! We were in room 241 which was on the first floor and looked over the pool/ocean. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were terrible. I asked the cleaners for extra pillows and they brought them - no problem! - but they weren't any better than the ones we already had. Also, the crickets or tree frogs are very noisy at night so if you are a light sleeper I would suggest ear plugs. The beach was spectacular although a bit rough...

3 Star hotel with a 5 star welcome.

by Jannerman71 on 24 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

Having not been to Antigua for about 40 years, the last time being with the Royal Navy, I was determined to return with my Wife to sample the delights of the Island and so, we got back this month, January 2017, flying form Scotland via London Gatwick with BA. It was great being back. Where do I start. There are negatives but not many and far outweighed by the positives, one thing to say, if you are expecting or want Sandal's style accommodation then book Sandal's and get your cheque book out, th...

Horrible Accomodation with good food

by Dinari E on 24 Jan 2017 (Business Traveller)

The Rex Halcyon Cove in Antigua is not a good hotel. The main issue with this hotel is the swarm of mosquitoes which plague the environment. Additionally, the building is in dire need of an upgrade. The TV in my room was not working. The reception is very tardy in responding to the needs of the guest. Moreover, the internet in the hotel sucks. There is only one access point located in the lobby which coincidentally has the highest concentration of mosquitoes.
