Sabarimala Temple

Yes, you read that right! Sabarimala Temple is believed to be haunted as a tragic accident took place near Pulmedu, killing hundred of people. Another legend states that it is haunted by an evil spirit who tries to enter the temple every year on 14 January (the day of Makar Sakranti). Lord Ayyappa, the presiding deity, fights off this evil spirit, resulting in a celestial lighting. The dense Trichur Forest is a sight to behold. Lush with greenery and exotic flora, the forest is a great picnic spot. Spooky, isn’t it? If the supernatural is not your cup of tea, then try exploring these places to see in Trichur.

Lakkidi Gateway

Lakkidi was once the secret gateway for adivasis of Wayanad during the days of the British rule. As the legend goes, an adivasi was killed by a British engineer when the former revealed a shorter route to the ghats. This route was then haunted by the spirit of the adivasi and a priest had to be called to chain his spirit to a tree. They say that the chain now grows with the tree.
