Nice setting, poor staff
by James T on 02 Jan 2017 (Solo Traveller)
Given a good setting and location, a good staff or a poor one can make almost all the difference. I stayed one night at Hostal Naira, well located in the historic center of La Paz, and a nice setting in an old colonial house, updated with architectural and desing-wise respect and taste. For example, I inquired about official tourist information offices, and they referred me to tourist agenci...
A few problems but overall quite good

With most places in Bolivia, you don't book with credit card, so your room is not guaranteed. Most places are quite paranoid about reserving a room and then having a no-show. I can understand this because it means lost money. That said, we reconfirmed three times as per their instructions (email, phone, email) to make sure they knew we were coming and what time. A nice place to stay
by Robert B on 13 Sep 2016 (Couple Traveller)
A nice hotel in a very good location. The Internet connection and breakfast are also top notch. The only issue was in the two rooms that we had there in one the bathroom smelt of dirty water and was not pleasant and the other are room was above the restaurant so it was quite loud.

I found this place in a blog and it was love at first sight. Colonial, large rooms, private rooms. This is a charming hotel not a hostal. I got a double room and pay the price to be alone, around $40 but for the last day it was worth. I traveled mostly with the lower income class, it was divine to have a private bathroom, c...

Haven't got a bad word to say about this hostel. The owners are absolutely lovely! The room was great, spacious and clean. Towels were provided which was great. We used the laundry service and our clothes came back fab, smelled lovely! We also organised tours through the hotel which were great. Lovely breakfast. A brilliant hostel overall.
