Not worth what it costs.
by LilyBuenosAires on 21 Feb 2016 (Solo Traveller)
I have traveled extensively around the world and have never felt so cheated. This is basic accommodation that is not worth what it costs!!! Also if you ask politely about some small change or something that the owner doesn´t like, she will say that she isn´t your maid. Terrible! And so speculative with the rates of change! She doesn´t realize that the success of a business depends on good comments from passengers ... I would not recommend at all. There are lots of nicer places at reasonable pric...
Between good and very good
by Jase-and-Stef on 03 Feb 2016 (Couple Traveller)
This hospederia was a bit of a mixed bag. Obviously, in a town like El Chalten, all you're after is clean and basic... But this place could really be something special. The hosts were super lovely, the rooms were cleaned daily, the wifi was decent for the end of the world, the breakfast was simple but tasty (you could organise it the night before if you wanted to leave for an early hike), and there was a communal fridge to store food. But, even after considering that Patagonia is a very expen...

Close to the bus station, shops/restaurants, the Chocolateria and the Laguna Torres walk. Room was well presented, clean with a really comfortable bed, modern bathroom and good heating (important for el Chalten, even in summer). I really appreciated the towel warmers also, as I get cold easy. The owner was friendly and had information about walks and could help with almost everything- bus bookings, laundry etc. Breakfast was ok but uninspired: breads, juice drink and coffee or tea, served in t...
Nice stay, great for day hikes
by Shelley P on 13 Dec 2015 (Couple Traveller)
We enjoyed our three night stay here. The room with an ensuite washroom was clean and spacious. Shower was great with good pressure and hot water. Only weird thing is that often there was a funky smell in the washroom (not sure from what). The hostal is walking distance to everywhere you need to go because El Chalten is so tiny. Breakfast is provided - simple toasts, media lunas, tea, coffee and juice. Make sure you get the Blue Dolar rate and exchange your USD in town (at a restaurant or anothe...
Sparse but suitable
by JuneauMan on 30 Sep 2015 (Solo Traveller)
Enjoyable stay in sparse yet suitable accomodations. The owner is pleasant and will accommodate needs. The breakfast is simply a microwaved roll and what they call coffee here in Argentina. Considering room rates in the off season here in El Chalten I felt lucky to have gotten a decent room with private bath for a cheap rate. But perhaps next time I will just stay at a hostel with shared bath for much much less and have the place to myself. The off season is like the Jersey shore in January....
