Quirky but nice
by Kevin M on 05 Sep 2016 (Friends Traveller)
Aan Zee is a narrow town house on the market place. There's underground parking available (at cost) but the ever-helpful staff pointed us to free parking nearby. Be warned that the car park approach is very steep so tricky for low cars. The room was a good size with tea and coffee making facilities (a European wonder in itself) but take your own if you like English breakfast as it's all exotic stuff. The breakfast buffet was good and I had a delicious goat's cheese salad lunch. The dinner op...
24 hours in De Panne with my little family
by Neil M on 07 Jul 2016 (Family Traveller)
We enjoyed a pleasant stay at the Hotel Aan Zee. Hotel is in a very central location but easy to get to by car. They offer off-road parking for a fee, but space was too small for our estate car. You can park on a local side street for free but it took a while to find a space. Don't park in the plaza outside as this is a rip off. The hotel is clean and modern, our room was very nice and faced the rear courtyard with a small balcony. I'd recommend to take the lift up and not use the stairs ;) ...
Great breakfast buffet
by BrusselsGuy_63 on 07 Sep 2015 (Couple Traveller)
Saturday morning, after fighting through the crowds in the market, we were both feeling the need for breakfast, and had walked past this place many time previously. Today though, we decided to give it a try. We made the right choice. We asked if they did breakfast and were told that the breakfast buffet was 12 Euros per person, pretty good for here, so in we went.... Now, the decor is a little odd, sort of a cross between a cafe and a gift shop, but cosy and quaint. It was a help yourself buffet...
The best waffle I've ever had!
by Kevin142 on 20 Aug 2015 (Couple Traveller)
A friend who lives in the area told me, when I related our visit, "now you've had a West Flanders waffle!" Certainly compared with what we've had in Brussels, this was a league above! I actually had coffee, but my wife wanted a waffle. It was practically A4 size. Even with a few toppings, the price was reasonable. My wife couldn't finish it, so I got to try some! W both agreed that the texture and flavour of the waffle was sublime. The ambiance was informal and friendly, the setting, on Markt, t...
Good value hotel for a short stay
by CurlyRose on 15 Jul 2015 (Friends Traveller)
A group of 10 of us stayed here for one night for a little mini trip away. It's basic, clean and comfortable and great value. The rooms were pleasant and clean and breakfast was good too. Location is great being on the market square and we found free parking in a residential street a short walk away so didn't pay for parking. I think for a short break this is a good little hotel. If you are after luxury then it won't be for you, but then for the price you are paying you shouldn't expect luxury a...
