Disappointing service in bistro

by KDongle on 19 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

I stayed here for a night on a dinner bed and breakfast package. The reception staff were welcoming and we were allocated a very nice room. It is a lovely building in a very central location. Dinner was an experience, and not in a good way. The food was alright, but no more than that. However the service was atrocious. The restaurant was not busy by any means but the staff could not have been less attentive. We were not offered a drink on arrival, we were only offered one menu rather than the ...

small, cosy and inviting

by AliBaba606 on 18 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

really good weekend stay - arrived early - 4 mins in taxi from Station and room was ready at 1230. Lovely room overlooking the courtyard, big shower, big bath ...in the room...fabulous. Got a dinner , B&B deal, dinner was fixed 3 course menu but could go a la carte using the £20 each as a supplement towards the bill - Had fillet steaks - melt in mouth, with coffee and fantastic expresso Martinis in the whisky drawing room...with open fire! Breakfast till 1100 sunday was lovely, everything you ne...

Fantastic hotel will go back and highly recommend

by DD611 on 17 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

Absolutely fantastic hotel in the heart of Edinburgh's old town. Just a five minute walk to Princes Street for shopping and ten minutes to the castle and other sight seeing spots. Location 5/5 We were treated very well from the moment we entered the hotel. The hotel is quirky in that each room is named after a wine and so there aren't room numbers. We were shown to our room and key things explained such as using coffee maker, TV etc. Every staff member during our four day stay was extremely ...

Rocky start, but very enjoyable stay

by samdixey2001 on 08 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

We stayed arriving on new years eve eve, until the Monday so 3 nights in all. We arrived in very good spirits, but were soon woken up to reality. We were told on arrival that we only have booked for one night despite a confirmation for 3 nights. We were told there were no rooms for new years eve. Panic panic! We spent 45 minutes speaking to expedia and the hotel reservation team before the hotel realised it was their error. Once the issue was established a room miraclously became available...

So comfortable

by Jkrlmr2013 on 06 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

Such a lovely, cosy hotel. The reception staff both on check in and check out were such lovely people, two really stand out individuals who were just genuinely very pleasant. Hotel had a warmth about it and a relaxed atmosphere. The room exceeded expectations also, the bath and shower facilities were fantastic and the room was finished to a high standard. Breakfast was lovely and relaxing also. This hotel was a brilliant place to relax, but it also has a great location for exploring central Edin...
