A short trip to Hamburg on business
by Carl C on 08 Nov 2016 (Business Traveller)
I stayed at this particular hotel after finding it on the internet. I wanted a quiet hotel not far from the University and in a nice location where I could go for a stroll if I wanted. The hotel was just right. My single bedroom was on the first floor at the front of the hotel facing the street, but it was very quiet and well away from the busy traffic near Dammtor Station and the main roads. The bed was comfy and I had a great sleep for a change. The TV was a bit tricky to switch on, but I fi...
Great little family hotel
by Gabi42 on 18 Oct 2016 (Friends Traveller)
Wonderful small hotel in the middle of Rothenbaum, very affordable, clean & quiet, walking distance to everything. Or one can take the bus - just steps away. Staff was very friendly and helpful, breakfast is small but only €5. I highly recommend this hotel while staying in Hamburg.

Extremely pleasant building, period interiors and neighbourhood. Rooms partly 70ies fiberboard soberness, not really what you see on booking.com pictures. You d expexct a certain class, culture or understanding of staff in this neighbourhood, unfortunately it is an in out handling mentality more like military administration.
More a B&B than a hotel
by Talal J on 28 Mar 2016 (Business Traveller)
If you book Heimhude with the idea that you're booking a larger B&B than a hotel, your expectations are more likely to be in touch with reality. For example, from 10pm onwards there isn't any staff present on the property. You also can't use the elevator. These aren't real issues if you're at a B&B, but they're not as acceptable at a hotel. What isn't forgivable is how uncomfortable the pillows are. The breakfast was nice.
Nice little hotel in a beautiful quarter
by Peter H on 22 Jan 2016 (Business Traveller)
The hotel is in a house which is terrific, and so are a number of buildings in the area. It is close to the Dammtor trainstation (10 minutes walk with luggage) and to Hamburg University. The staff is very nice, breakfast is ok (coffee is not as good as one might have hoped. One should be aware that the rooms have paper thin walls - thus you can't help noticing what's going on next door, and someone snoring next door isn't too pleasant during the entire night - you have to decide whether this wou...
