Excellent value for Rio

by Gerry R on 01 Nov 2016 (Family Traveller)

If you are looking for somewhere cheap to stay in Rio de Janeiro and want just a good hotel as a base while sightseeing or relaxing on Copacabana Beach then the Rio Pompeu is the place for you. Situated downtown, away from the tourist-grabbers, this hotel offers excellent accommodation and breakfast for under £45l a night for a deluxe room. Make sure you book a suite on the (top) fifth floor. We stayed in room 501 for 15 nights which comprised a comfortable air conditioned bedroom, separate ki...

Average Hotel

by Chaddrick H on 22 Aug 2016 (Friends Traveller)

It's an average hotel definitely nothing special but me and my friend enjoyed our stay because we weren't looking for anything special just a place to stay, also free breakfast which is great and in our room had a mini fridge with sodas, beers and water which would be restocked daily (you do pay for them at the end of your stay though but nothing too expensive) we originally wanted to stay in Copacabana area for the Olympics but the hotels were booked out so we ended up at Pompeu and to be hones...

Ok hotel for exploring the city

by Jacob P on 18 May 2016 (Couple Traveller)

When we arrived in the evening we were a little bit disappointet about the neighbourhood, but we soon found out that the hotel is situated on historic grounds. The hotelmanager took us on a little stroll and showed us beautiful small streets and the places from which the history of Rio (and samba) startet. He had good knowledge of Rio's history. The hotel is only some minutes walk away from Urugaiana, a very cosey shopping area, and the subwaystation is also nearby. The hotelemployees did their...

To far from the tourist attractions

by Michel V on 20 Sep 2015 (Friends Traveller)

Single person room was small but was enough. Beds are hard and to small for tall people like me. (1.96). Room was cleaned everyday. Clean towels and soap etc every day. Bathroom was larger than expected and was really goid. Toilet seat was a cushion. Not good imo. To vulnerable for bacteria and dirty butts. Hotel has a night watchman but he was not the most friendly one. Not a single greeting. Just a grunt. I usually left early and came back late at night. Front desk staff barely greeted or...

I regret booking this hotel.

by David d on 31 Jul 2014 (Solo Traveller)

Do not make the same mistake that I did by booking a room in this hotel. There are many good hotels in Rio. Look in the Santa Teresa area instead, you will love it there. This area is bad and not advisable to go out in at night.
