Inturist in Holland?

by Pieter S on 04 Jan 2017 (Solo Traveller)

A puddle on the bathroom floor made use of the lavatory and the washbasin very unpleasant. The nice receptionist said that she would have extra towels placed to absorb the water (no plumbers available on New Year's Eve). When I came back late in the night nothing had been done. The hotel has a shabby and not very clean carpet on the steep staircase to the rooms. The room was reminiscent of the Inturist hotels of Eastern Europe pre-1991. My complaint the next day was passed on to the new owner wh...

OK-ish room, terrible service

by Madalina S on 02 Nov 2016 (Business Traveller)

I think the people staying next door already mentioned what happened in another review. I'd left the shower room open and the steam triggered the fire alarm, which prompted angry knocks on my door and a hotel employee calling me an idiot (pro tip, if you're trying to insult me in Dutch choose a word that isn't identical to the English one). Otherwise, room wasn't too bad, though a bit cold. However, it is absolutely not worth the money. I spent my last night in Amsterdam in an airbnb, where I go...

generally ok, but....

by Ewelina N on 02 Nov 2016 (Friends Traveller)

Definite advantage of this place is that is very close to city center, approx 10 minutes walk to Van Gogh or Rijksmuseum. However as a place is far from being 3 star hotel. We've been located in the basement, where my 2meters tall friend was barely able to stand straight up. Stairs down, well... nearly fell down, that's how narrow they are. Overall, the service was good. Good place just to sleep.

So so.

Excellent location being close to tram and bus stops and walking distance to restaurants, but that was about all - reception service was good. The room was noisy inside - the creaking floor everywhere you stepped and out. - street noise and other room noise. The fire alarm went off because 1 of the guests had their shower door open and the steam triggered the alarm. The shower was so small and stuffy, no wonder they opened the door. Tea and coffee sachets with a kettle plug but no kettle? Bed wa...

No bang for lots of your buck

by Marvin R on 16 Aug 2016 (Family Traveller)

This hotel had poor dirty rooms and was very expensive for what it was. The staff were friendly and welcoming enough but that does not make up for the lack of quality. This hotel was meant to be a 3 star hotel but honestly it was more like one star. The room,s were dirty and very expensive. The hotel was however in a good location to get to all the places that are interesting and touristy such as the museumplein and was very near to a tram stop so that's a plus. so lets review pros and cons +fri...
