Drop in at Bhatinda to have a slice of the famous Punjabi culture and revisit the glorious past through magnificent forts and historical temples. It also has one of the oldest and highest small brick monuments in India, Qila Mubarak. The first empress of India, Razia Sultan was imprisoned here.
Bhatinda, a popular city in Punjab, is famous for its rich culture, significant religious places and historical monuments. Nicknamed as “The City of Lakes”, it was also known as Tabar-e-Hind which means Gateway to India. You can visit Quila Mubarak, which holds special place in religious monuments or Bahia fort (now a hotel) which has interesting stories attributed to it. Then there is Gurudwara in the middle of Lakhi jungle and the place attracts lots of devotees. Some of the other attractions include Zoological Garden, Peer Haji Rattan Mazaar, Bhatinda Lake and Chetak Park among others. You could also experience boating at the lake in those Kashmir styled Shikara Boats. It has some of oldest monuments in the region some of them dating back to 3,000 B.C. to the Harappan period.
