How can I reach Delhi by Air?

1 person found this answer useful Useful ?Yes

Declared as the second best Airport in the world in the 25-40 million passengers category by the Airport Council International, the Indira Gandhi International Airport is very well connected by a number of direct and indirect flights with the rest of the country. In fact, the airport serves more than 40 airlines and is a hub for quite a few popular airlines such as GoAir, Air India Regional, Air India, Kingfisher Airlines, JetLite, and IndiGo.

The airport features six terminals in total out of which only two are functional at this time. The terminal 1D is the one that is used for low budget domestic airlines and the Terminal 3 is used by the international carriers and full-service domestic carriers such as Jet, Air India and Kingfisher. The airport is well connected to the city by road and a special Airport Express Delhi Metro route running from New Delhi to Dwarka with fares ranging from INR 80 to INR 100. There is a free shuttle service that runs after every 20 minutes between the two terminals.

For Taxis, you should always choose the pre-paid booth run by Delhi Police. Be aware of many agencies claiming to be run by the authorities.  Another options are the Radio Cabs which can be taken from the airport or can be telephoned.
A couple of renowned car hire agencies in Delhi are Easy Cab, Meru Cab and Quick Cab.

The contact numbers for the same are:

  • Meru Cab: +91-11-44224422
  • Easy Cab: +91-11-43434343
  • Quick Cab: +91-11-45333333

During the winter season, dense fog becomes really a problem for the travelers. Because of that, many of the flights are rescheduled or even canceled. To avoid any problems, one should keep a check on the availability and status of the flights. There might also be some delays because of this.
