Going from Manali to Rohtang Pass is a must when you travel to this beautiful hill station. If you live in the plains, we are sure the idea of snow is going to excite you, which you are going to find in loads at the Rohtang Pass in the mighty Himalayan mountains. Make sure you have your gumboots on for uninterrupted fun.

Rohtang Pass is located at a distance of 50 kms from Manali which translates into a three hour drive. The winding roads through small hill hamlets are surrounded by lush greenery for most part of the year and are sure to give you breathtaking views of the scenic hills and valleys of Manali.


A few tips that may come in handy while planning your trip to Rohtang Pass are:

Personal experiences have taught us it is better to hire a 4X4 car and driver for this drive, which can be taxing and full of difficulties in maneuvering.
It is also advisable to start early in the morning for this one, so that you can beat the traffic at the road and the crowd at the pass.

Most importantly, make sure you plan your trip in the months between May and November as the pass is accessible to public only during these times.

Do carry a few chocolates along with you, as high altitudes tend to sap energies soon. Keeping having a little every now and then to recharge your batteries. If you are with kids, do carry some munchies for the ride.

While coming back from Rohtang, do give Paragliding a try. Cruising through the mountains on the breeze, taking in beauteous views of the valleys down below is a great experience.
