Reaching Gokarna is an experience in itself. In a way, this quasi-inaccessibility protects the place from the overcrowding din that exists in Goa. A very spectacular way to reach Gokarna is to take the day bus from Hubli. The bus goes through the Yellapur forests on the Western Ghats and the over 60kms of forest road is quite enchanting. You may want to just get off the bus for a bit and explore the forest and then catch the next bus.
