Once in Gangtok, we are certain that you would like to explore every nook and corner of the city. And the memories of the places you visit and how you visit them must be pleasant, isn't it?
Let's then look at what all is available for you if you need to travel within Gangtok-

  • By Bus

A majority of population of Gangtok chooses to travel by buses. They are run by the local government, and cover most areas of the city. Plus, theyare cheap and fares vary between INR 3 to INR 5. Not to forget the local, native feel you get while you are aboard.

  • By Taxis

From the point of view of a tourist, taxis may be a very convenient option. They are safe and are run in large numbers across the city as a public transport means. Depending on the location of your destination, taxi-fares normally range from INR 100 to INR 200, though you must still haggle over the prices as the taxis there do not run on meter.

  • By Shared Jeeps/Mini-buses

Share-jeeps are a kind of public taxis and may be used when travelling longer distances. The fares are a meagre INR 20 to INR 30. And, you are sure to encounter locals and become more familiar with their culture through your ride.

  • An interesting connecting link is a kilometre long Cable Car, that connects the lower Gangtok suburbs with the upper ones, with the Sikkim Legislative Assembly being one of its central stops.

So, hop on to one of these vehicles and munch your way to your favourite destinations.
