about kota

One of the major cities of Rajasthan and a budding industrial town, Kota has a rich cultural heritage, visible in its old Rajput-style architecture that dates back to the 13th Century, palaces, temples and the British influences in Victorian-style buildings. The surprise is that Kota has a history — industrial towns with power and atomic plants aren’t supposed to, belonging as they do to the genre of sci-fi cities.

Go to the Chambal Gardens for a quiet picnic, with majestic crocodiles to keep you company, you can go boating to. Don't miss the unique Kota style of miniature painting and grand coat of arms, housed in the city's famous museum. Embark on a quiet pilgrimage tour of the various small and large temples.

Kota’s broad avenues and leafy roads, and its status as the divisional headquarters of the Indian Army, further hide its organic beginnings. But this place is as much a child of fractious history as its fellow Rajput kingdoms, born of as much blood, gore and diplomacy. It has also retained a certain lazy charm. Most industries here are self-contained establishments and all that is visible is a gentle prosperity. Though the town is not very big, you will need transport to get around. Local autorickshaws or cars can be hired for commuting from one place to another.
