about howrah bridge

One image that constantly makes its way to picture postcards of Kolkata is a picture of this massive structure of steel, Howrah Bridge. Built in the times of the British Raj, this structure is often called one of the finest examples of engineering till date. An interesting feature about the bridge is that no nuts and bolts were used in making of the bridge, instead the structure was made by riveting the steel.

Even though the bridge is crowded with all means of transportation possible all day, there is a sense of immense beauty in the way the holy Ganges flows under it incessantly and how the cool breeze envelops this place all day. If you are a morning bird, don’t miss out on watching the breathtaking sight of the sun rising over the glistening waters of the river!
