about hyde park & kensington gardens

Hyde Park & Kensington Gardens makes for a natural wonderland with its 608 acres carpeted with blooming flowers and dotted with trees and ponds. The former deer hunting ground of Henry VIII, Hyde Park is separated from Kensington Gardens by 42 acre wide lake, known charmingly as the Serpentine. You can go on a paddleboat or rowboat ride through the lake and enjoy the idyllic landscape of the two gardens, one on each side. If the waters seem inviting enough to you for a dip, you can take a swim in the area designated for swimming. Be careful, the water tends to be particularly chilly and can take you by complete surprise as you plunge in. Right near the bridge is the Princess Diana Memorial fountain, having opened in 2004, with its particularly smooth, slippery surface leading to its closure as a swimming pool. Now you can just dip your feet and hands in it. As you walk towards the northeast end of Hyde Park & Kensington Gardens you will come across the Speaker's Corner where you have a right to say whatever your heart desires. It's the corner where the likes of Lenin and Marx spoke to the masses. Kensington Gardens is where you will find landmark Peter Pan statue, and yes the story of J.M. Barrie it in the garden in the middle of the night is true! It's here where Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial playground is situated and the Albert Memorial
