OK, but could be so much better

by Busbar on 04 Oct 2016 (Couple Traveller)

When we wanted somewhere authentic-looking to stay for our 4 nights in Beijing to start our trip to China, the Imperial Courtyard certainly seemed to fit the bill. We checked in just after midnight and were told that the double room we'd booked was not available until the following day, so it would be a twin room for the first night; this wasn't a big issue for us but did seem strange as it appeared there were hardly any guests staying there at the time. We paid our deposit as we found to be th...

Not for families with four persons i one room

by Cricko777 on 13 Aug 2016 (Family Traveller)

This hotel is not for families with four persons in one room. Take two doubles! The description of the room was not right. The Double room Luxury that supposed to be 40m2 was 22m2. There is no view from the room, except looking into the courtyard. The view from the roof is only some buildings. Nothing to see. I wanted to be sure to get one extra bed in the 3-persons room but they didn't reply on my emails. I wrote to them twice. Frustrated to not get in contact! I also asked a friend who co...

Look for other Hutong courtyard hotels

by Tom N on 07 Aug 2016 (Solo Traveller)

It wasn't my plan to stay here. My travel agent messed up the booking at the Double Happiness Courtyard Hotel and booked my five-night stay here instead. First the good: Comfortable, large bed Good air conditioning Located in the interesting Hutong area The staff tries Probably great for Chinese guests. (I'm the only foreigner here) The peeling wallpaper has been taped back into place Good water pressure in large shower, no leaks Bathroom and regular slippers provided (in sizes small and smal...

A total Surprise

by Jacky Z on 10 May 2016 (Business Traveller)

When arrived at the lanes nearby we doubted if we had made the wrong choice. But once entered it changed our mind. Surprised that the hotel is so close to the Wudaoying Hutong, an area where many old house or courtyards are well preserved. Staff are friendly and helpful. The owner Lan even pressed the shirts for me knowing i was too busy to press them in this business trip. There are loads of good restaurants nearby and the and underground is walking distance. the room is not very big but ...

Great place to experience the traditional Chinese courtyard lifestyle

by Alvin_83 on 23 Apr 2016 (Couple Traveller)

Imperial Courtyard Hotel is located inside the Hutong area, around 15 minutes walk from Andingmen subway station. The entrance to the hotel isn't easy to find. It isn't facing the main road, but facing a small alley branching from the main road. A sign board along the main road had helped us to locate it. Once inside the hotel, we could feel ourselves immersed in a traditional Chinese environment. The hotel is not very big, but it is well decorated, from its walkway to the interior room design....
