All about the India Surf Festival 2015.

Taking place for the fourth time in India, the India Surf Festival 2015 is being held in Konark close to the beach city of Puri, Orissa from the 6th to 8th February 2015 at the Ramchandi Beach. This eco-friendly festival is aimed at introducing people in India to the surf culture with the help of competitions, surfing instructions, movies, music and art.

The festival is expected to attract over 60 professional surfers from countries such as Singapore, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Morocco and India. The footfall is expected to be from anywhere between 2000 to 5000 people. Apart from movies, music and art, the festival will showcase the work photographers from across the world in an event called the “Hungry Lens”.

The sea here is perfect for stand up paddle surfing, one of the main events of the festival. Surfers can paddle far out to sea and surf back to shore. Other activities at the India Surf Festival 2015 include kite surfing, long board skating and yoga in the water and on the beach. “Walk on Water” workshops will be held for those who want to learn surfing.

If you wish to become a part of the festivities it is mandatory to register yourself. This registration can be done online on the official website of the festival. Every chapter of this festival promotes a specific social cause, with the festival this year going with the “inspiring the girl power” theme. As a part of this initiative an all girl crew has been appointed to teach surfing to girls and women from local villages and cities 10 days before the festival.

There are various accommodation options at the festival at the Surfer’s Village in the form of camping tents, hermit huts, Lotus Resort, independent accommodation and campers. A day pass for the festival will cost you INR 1500. You could also take a package inclusive of accommodation for three days, ranging from INR 5500 to INR 14000.
