Nice location but it's old

by Jorge R on 27 Jan 2017 (Friends Traveller)

The hotel is like a monument, but the decor was old. The entrance is great and staff was very helpul and nice. Inspite of being an spacious, the room was not modern and I like modern things. The locations was perfect. Too expensive for the kind of hotel.

Great location, traditional hotel

by Alissa48 on 26 Jan 2017 (Business Traveller)

I stayed at the Mark Hopkins for 4 nights on business. The check in was very efficient and courteous, as were all of the staff I encountered. I had a few questions and phoned the concierge several times and they were very helpful. I used the laundry facilities and it was very efficient. I didn't eat at the hotel as I thought it was all very expensive (then realised San Francisco in general is an expensive city to drink and dine). Appalling service, needs renovation, no sound proofing

by Adtron on 26 Jan 2017 (Business Traveller)

First, I left my passport in the room and was never notified. "It's their policy." What? they could have put it in a Fedex envelope directly to me and I would have received it. The housekeeping staff on our floor were on their cell phones at the top of their lungs throughout the day. When you call with a request or problem...

Nice hotel in a great location

by WeIITraveIed on 24 Jan 2017 (Business Traveller)

The hotel is nicely appointed -- nothing special, and is well situated in a great part of SF. It's historic provenance is pretty special, and adds a lot of charm to the setting. When walking in this area, keep in mind it seems like everything is uphill from the hotel and some of these walks can be up (or down) very steep streets.

Great value and location

by jacc_3 on 22 Jan 2017 (Couple Traveller)

We've seen plenty of higher prices on this hotel but we managed to find it at a great value for our travel dates. We really enjoyed the charm of the older architecture, but if you are into very modern looks and amenities, then this hotel likely isn't the best option for you. It was only a $6 cab ride up the hill from the Powell Street BART station, so it was easy to get to and from there with luggage (it's probably way too step of a climb if you have suitcases). The men working the door were hel...
