Jazz is, hands down, one of the coolest forms of music. What better way to celebrate International Jazz Day than giving you the lowdown on the best jazz festivals around the world.


New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, United States


The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival is a colossal musical extravaganza. This ten-day annual festival attracts people in tens of thousands. Over the years, jazz greats like Mahalia Jackson, Billy Joel, Ellis Marsalis, Carlos Santana have performed here.
The festival has been getting bigger and better over the years and newer genres like pop, rock and rap are getting highlighted. This year the main attractions were Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Phish and Robin Thicke.

Non jazz things to do: Fill up on delicious crayfish and jambalaya, visit the French Quarters, admire the massive Missisippi River.

Montreal Jazz Festival, Canada

The biggest music festival in the world, the Montreal Jazz Festival attracts nearly 2 million people each year! Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and Bo Diddley have taken to the stage here in the past. The best thing about this festival is that most attractions are absolutely free!

Montreux Jazz Festival, Switzerland

Set on the banks of the beautiful Lake Geneva, Switzerland, the Montreux Jazz Festival is an unmissable event for jazz afficianados. From Miles Davis and Ray Charles to David Bowie and Prince, all music greats have performed here. This is without a doubt one of the best jazz festivals around the world.
