A grim reminder
22 Oct 2014
Jallianwala Bagh is a grim reminder of the suffering of the Indian civilians under the British rule in India. It is located within walking distance from the Golden Temple and has very stringent security procedures. The narrow entrance opens up into an open ground surrounded by tall fort-like walls. Some portions of the walls still have bullet marks, preserved as a memorial for the lives lost there. There is a sound and light show in Jallianwala Bagh every day after sunset. It re-enacts the massacre and gives one a refresher course in history. The memorial is a solemn place to reflect and absorb the enormity of what transpired inside these walls.

The bullet marks on the walls can easily be seen..This place is a normal garden except for the fact that a mssacre took place here during the british regin where thousands of unarmed peoplw were shot at..the museum provided gives a detailed view of the history..

Every Indian must visit this place

A very sentimental visit. The bullet holes are clearly visible on the walls. You will feel the spirits of the hundreds of women and children who died on that fateful day over here in the form of love for the country. This place needs to be visited at least once to pay respect to those people who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

Place to remind you about history

I think one the best historical sites in India. You can felt the pain of the victims gone through. There is a small museum also where you can see relics of independence. It's a dedicated site for all the martyrs of the incident. It is near by golden temple and this place is a must see visiting Amritsar.

It would have been a normal park, had the heart-breaking incident not happened in the history. The history has been kept preserved here. the museum is made with walls to wall sculpture depicting the incident.

It is at walking distance from the golden temple. There is a museum which has wall to wall canvas, that depicts the tragic incident that had happened in the history. In all the place is a normal garden.

As it is the memorial garden...in which the incident happened due to the general dyer ....he forcefully attacked in the garden and taken the thousands of lives which is present over there.... Now an also the symbol of bullet are also present on the walls to show that how the war has generally happened..... To save from the general dyer bullets people s socite by digging into the wells.... The main advantage of this is it is open for all the seven days....such that we can come at any time for the visit purpose without planning.....

This is an interesting place but a bit sad because it show a very violent moment of the British against Indian people. This place is very much near to golden temple, so you can club the visit of both places. Bullet marks on wall are preserved properly. it's having small museum at the exit, which is informative.

Monument of peace

The place is near golden temple. We reached there on foot. In the starting there is Amar Jyoti which burns 24 7 depicting peace. There is a great wall of canvas depicting the history of great war of Independence in which many people were mercilessly killed. Cleanliness is well maintained and demonstrations are well organized. One must know the sacrifices made by our earlier generations for our independence. light and sound show not working. Most of the visitors come here as a picnic spot for fun. Felt it should be made a silence zone. Everyone must visit this place once.

Jallianwala Bagh is located very near to GoldenTemple in amritsar. The place has a garden at the centre to sit and relax. There are bullet marks on the walls which shows how poor indians were shot. The well where people fell to save their lives is blocked by a cage and people offer coins in it as a homage. Truly eyes get watered after seeing this place.

This was a very sobering experience for me. Looking at the bullet holes and the well where the women and children jumped down to their deaths...made me realize the immense sacrifice made by the people of India during British times.

Not so touristic for "non indians" but it's a must to go because the history of this place. Just a nice park with some history fragments, but mostly in Hindi, so don't expect so much, but a nice 30 minutes complement to the Golden Temple visit.
