about jim corbett national park

Named after the famous British hunter turned author and naturalist,  Jim Corbett National Park  is one of the oldest National parks in India. The place attributes its diverse flora and fauna to its location, i.e. the sub-Himalayan belt. It is a major eco-tourism destination that features beautiful landscapes and dense forests.

Corbett National park was the first tiger reserve under the Project Tiger in India. The park was first established as a possible game reserve in 1907 by the British colonialists and was named Hailey National Park. Later declared as a protected region, the area of the park was increased and it was renamed to Jim Corbett National Park in 1955.

Exciting not only for the jungle rides in open jeeps, the tracing of tigers based on bird calls and pugmarks has a thrill of its own. Apart from the king of the forest, you can also spot Elephants, Leopards, Boars, Deers, Himalayan Palm Civets, Jungle Cats, Fishing Cats, Indian Gray Mongoose, Blacked-naped hare, Porcupines, Langur , Monkey, Sloth Bear and Black Bear here. The exhilarating terrain, streams and rivers portray the bounty of nature in the land.

A number of tourists turn up every year at the  Jim Corbett National Park  to experience the abundance of mother nature. The best time to visit this wilderness is from November to June. You need to obtain a permit for viewing the park (before your entry) from the Tourist Office at the gate.
