about jolly buoy island

With activities like snorkelling, boating, scuba diving and more, Jolly Buoy Island is one of the favourite tourists attractions in Port Blair. It is a part of the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park.

This shimmering white sandy island is surrounded by different hues of turquoise blue waters, which is especially conspicuous on a bright sunny day. Usual tour packages also include a ride in the glass bottom boats and a few minutes of snorkelling to let the visitors take in the colourful coral reef around the island. The waters are only waist deep and crystal clear, so swimming is a great experience.  A trip to Port Blair is incomplete without paying a visit here.

Permits are available at the Wandoor Jetty.

In case snorkelling is out of the question, take the glass bottom boats upto Wandoor in Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park.

This is the best place to try snorkeling. It is pretty safe with trainers by your side. I have a fear of water, but still all I felt in there was pure wonder and exhilaration.
