K C Das’s Rasogullas are synonymous to Kolkata. The shop is named after Krishna Chandra Das, whose father Nobin Chandra Das actually created the white, spongy, cottage cheese ball dipped in sugar syrup. K C Das’s canned Rasogullas travel all over the world. But it was K C Das who took the family name far; he also created the Rasmalai. Their other authentic specialities include Lalmohan, Chamcham, Kheermohan, Labanga Latika, Malpua, Prabhu Bhog, Chhanar Toast, Kesar Pista, Kheer Kadam and Amriti. These are available at all their branches across the city. The savouries include Radhaballavi with Aloor Dum and their Bengali Shingaras. The flagship store in Dharmatala has undergone recent renovation, with a red-and-white snazzy décor and computerized counters. However, the taste remains the same: delicious and flavourful. The tenth or eleventh generation into the business, the current K C Das factory is also technically equipped and highly hygienic.
