about köfteci arnavut

An institution in itself, Kofteci Arnavut has been the frontrunner in Istanbul's unstated war for the title of the 'city's best meatballs' ever since its inception in 1947. Set in the town of Balat, Kofteci Arnavut is spread over a tumbledown two-storey brick building and it is in fact its run down, age-old appearance that adds to its overall charm.

While meatballs are the restaurant's signature dishes and specialty, there are also other classic Turkish dishes on menu that you can opt for like stews, lentil soups and arnavut cigeri (fried pieces of lamb's liver). Being a local favorite, the only downside at Kofteci Arnavut is open only for 3 hours and even then food often runs out by noon time. So, be here at opening time to indulge in the delectable meatballs.
