about kuala lumpur city gallery

The point from where your journey across Kuala Lumpur can actually begin, Kuala Lumpur City Gallery is where the city's historical narrative and cultural fabric have been laid out for all to glimpse and experience. Located right within the legendary enclave of Merdeka Square and housed inside the National Heritage building that is over 115 years old, Kuala Lumpur City Gallery narrates the history of Kuala Lumpur through its poetic display of photos, prints and miniature models of historic buildings. The gallery faces the iconic flagpole wherein 1957 for the first time the British flag was lowered and Malayan flag was proudly raised.

ARCH, the official souvenir line of Kuala Lumpur, is based out here and not only can you witness its workings but also buy some truly incredible souvenirs from the largest ARCH shop in the city. Out here is a mural, wood veneer, of Kuala Lumpur's skyline and is the largest of its kind in the world. While the gallery is a must visit in itself, it makes for a delightful and incredible trip also because right in the enclave where it is located, a number of other historic buildings of Malaysia can also be found such as the National textiles museum, former National History Museum, High Court Building, Royal Selangor Club, Jamek Mosque.
