how to reach laitlum canyons

One of the lesser known places in Shillong, you'll need to go via the more popular village of Smit to reach Laitlum. Both Smit and Laitlum are about 20 - 30 km from Police Bazaar.

about laitlum canyons

When in Shillong, be close to nature, for you will never see any place which has so much of natural beauty in and around it. Laitlum Canyons is one of those spots where you can have a bird's eye view of the city of Shillong. The green hills, the orchids, the bamboo plants, the 'cottony' clouds - all from one point. Amazing, isn't it? For the trek uphill, make sure you are wearing your most comfortable shoes. I'ts a long walk to the top, but with the variety of flora around you for company, you wouldn't care much about those tired muscles.

If you want to have a clear view of the place below, try to reach here in the afternoon. During mornings, you will see a cover of fog and mist, blanketing the view. If you are searching for something off-beat, you can go in the morning and surrender yourself to the mysterious beauty of the fog, which seems to be connected with the clouds above. Yes, you can try it, after all, the literal meaning of 'Meghalaya' is 'The Abode of Clouds'.
